About the JSPS
The Japanese Society for Patristic Studies (JSPS) is a scholarly society dedicated to the research of the philosophy, theology, history, and literature of Christian antiquity and related fields. Founded in the autumn of 1976, the Society has encouraged the communication between scholars at all stages of their careers and those interested in the languages, literature, history, and thought of the patristic era. Among the JSPS chief activities are the JSPS regular seminar held quarterly and the publication of the journal entitled Patristica which has been issued annually since 1994. The first supplementary volume of the Patristica (written in English, French, and German) was published in June of 2001. Membership is open to all who share the objectives of the Society.
